The Sotavento Beach Resort Hotel is located in beautiful Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa together offer the best of the Mexican Pacific coast.
Our Zihuatanejo hotel is within walking distance to the genuine fishing village of Zihuatanejo where you are welcome to go out deep sea fishing with the locals.
You can scuba dive under the gentle waves of Zihuatanejo's Bay and hike in the local forests. Day trips take you to the historic village of Morelia to admire its colonial architecture and to the artisans of the copper-working village of Santa Clara de Cobre.
From the oasis of the Sotavento Beach Resort Hotel you have access to more adventurous holiday action up the coast. If you enjoy surfing, the world-class waves of Trancones are just half an hour away. Next door in Ixtapa the beaches offer paragliding, windsurfing, Hobie cat sailing and waterskiing. If that's enough for one day you can retire to the Sotavento Beach Resort for a starlit rooftop dinner - or if you still have the energy, grab a tortilla and some Tequila and check out the nightlife of Ixtapa.
Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa are on the southwestern Pacific coast of Mexico, a two-hour flight from Los Angeles. Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa International Airport offers direct daily budget flights to many major North American cities due to Ixtapa's rapid growth as a tourist destination. Zihuatanejo is much smaller and much quieter, but very conveniently shares the same airport and the same connections within a 15-minute drive.
